I am an engineer from Berlin/Germany. Living in Shanghai for more than 20 years. Photography is a way to develop my creativity and to find my own viewpoint on the society that surrounds me (where ever that is) and on life in general.

I think that I still use too much different equipment, but then I also find that each type of camera fits a different purpose. Some give stunning image quality while others are utterly portable and compact. Some do have fixed lenses, while others allow me to swap between different focal length. There are 135mm film cameras, but also 120mm film cameras. There are SLRs and rangefinders. And and and...

I am developing my own B&W film at home, which gives me the satisfaction of having the overall control of the process - from selecting a certain type of film, to the actual exposure, and finally the development and scanning. I want to shoot more film in the future. It forces me to slow down and be mindful. Working with film and analogue cameras is a pure pleasure to me.

A picture that shows a 100% copy of the real situation is only interesting from a technical point of view - how sharp the picture is, how accurate the colors are reproduced and so on. But it does not give a new experience, a new viewpoint. It does not help to open your mind.

If the pictures that I selected on this website might cause you to raise your eyebrows for a moment, or put a smile on your face - then I know that I moved one step further on my photographic journey.

Thanks for stopping by!
